Welcome to Gospel Rant! Watch this and more on our DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. But how do we pray when someone crushes, betrays, abandons, abuses, or robs us? Our gut screams for God's righteous wrath. It's human—even for believers. We Christians tsk-tsk vengeance from a safe distance. Yet quotes like Nietzsche's ring true: "It is impossible to suffer without making someone pay for it; every complaint already contains revenge." Or ancient duty: "To exact revenge for yourself or your friends...

Welcome to Gospel Rant! Watch this also on YouTube DrBillSenyard. Top Ten Prayer #6 comes from Paul, the very heart of his important letter to the Ephesians. If you want to understand Ephesians, you need to have digested this prayer. It is that important—and life changing. What if we've made prayer harder than it needs to be—and seen too little fruit? What if experiencing even 10% more of God's deep love for you right now—or 5% more for your neighbors, or 7.5% more of His pride in you—flowed ...

Welcome to Gospel Rant! Watch me also on DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. Top Ten Prayer #7 comes from a young woman who has just heard from an angle of all beings that she is pregnant. “I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me as you have said.” One sentence. No sermon. No bargaining. No delay. Just surrender. Welcome to Gospel Rant Podcast and DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. As I said about the Old Testament ranking, they are all favorites of God. This list represents my highly subjectiv...

Welcome to Gospel Rant! Watch me also on DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. “What? The Lord’s Prayer is #8--not even top 5? Irreverent?” I get it. It’s Jesus’ words—familiar, revered. But spoiler: Top 5 are also Jesus’. After decades studying its context, its genius isn’t the script—it’s why Jesus answered, “How should we pray?” this way. We’ve misunderstood. It’s better than we think. Welcome to Gospel Rant Podcast and DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. As I said about the Old Testament ranking, t...

Welcome to Gospel Rant! Also watch me on YouTube (DrBillSenyard) The Spirit’s Groan (Rom 8:22–27) This one’s different. It’s technically not our prayer at all. It’s the Spirit’s prayer, uttered when we can’t form words. But that’s exactly why it belongs in the list. This is God praying for you, in you, when you’re past praying. Welcome to Gospel Rant Podcast and DrBillSenyard YouTube channel. As I said about the Old Testament ranking, they are all favorites of God. This list represents my hi...

Top !0 Prayers of the New Testament #10 Welcome to Gospel Rant! Also watch me on YouTube (DrBillSenyard). Whenever I speak about prayer, there are always a few in the room who are riding a wave—bright, wind-filled, sun-splashed. Prayer feels natural to them. Intimate. Dynamic. Answered. They speak of God’s nearness the way others speak of weather: frequently and with delight. If that is you, keep going. Don’t adjust a thing. Stay on the board. Feel the spray. I bless you, and yes, I envy you ...

Most are spending this season on the Cross, Jesus’ powerful bold choice to suffer, and redemption, atonement and resurrection—as it should be. I am going to fill in one of the nasty dirty cracks of the Cross. How Jesus suffered as a model for how we should deal with our times of suffering that inevitably come to us. How are we to complain to God when the bottom drops ...

Welcome to Gospel Rant! Dr. Bill is going to look at Job’s frustration with God and how he tries to deal with Him. We will see what you think. Here’s my rough translation of 7:20, So, Man-Watcher- so let’s say hypothetically that I did fall short of perfection (which I am not pleading guilty to at all), in the big scheme of things, what real difference does it really make to you? What could I have even possibly done to warrant such a beating? Has the strenuous oppression worn you out? Rather, ...

The Gospel According to Job 4 Welcome to Gospel Rant! Dr. Bill is going to suggest that a helpful way to look at the book of Job is a dual sting, a two way con. Satan is trying to con God using Job—but in a bigger sense God is conning Satan—using Job. Messy? Yep. Unnerving? Yep—not the way we usually think of God, and yet…It makes a lot of sense. What do you think? And now, it’s your turn… 👉 Like 👉 Share 👉 Comment 👉 Subscribe Your interaction helps this message reach more people! We’d lo...

The Gospel According to Job 3 Welcome to Gospel Rant! Dr. Bill is going to suggest that we have misunderstood how we are to ‘win’ in our Christian walk. It is not about the Retributive Principle at all. In fact, the clue is found all the way back in Genesis. Here’s one very provocative quote in this show. “Faith says that God’s wisdom is such that there is a possibility that going through hell could be part of an elaborate loving gift of God to one he wants to reward.” Both wildly troubling ...

Introduction to the Book of Job

This is Part 7 of our series: The Church the Holy Spirit Built. Luke continues to highlight the powerful themes shaping this early movement—based on legitimate eyewitness accounts. There was a surprising unity, a deep sense of shared purpose, radical generosity, and undeniable power. So what was going on? If I had to sum it up for Theophilus, I’d simply say: “…and much grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33, NIV) In context, charis refers to the experienced favor of God—poured out over the ga...

Remember how this whole series began? Luke is writing to Theophilus—likely to explain what got into those original disciples of Jesus… and what kept driving the movement over the next 30 years, transforming it into an international phenomenon unlike anything the world had ever seen. And now, Luke turns up the volume even more. 👉 Like 👉 Share 👉 Comment 👉 Subscribe Your interaction helps this message reach more people! This is Part 5 of our series: The Church the Holy Spirit Built. I’m continually amazed by the transformation of Peter. Who told him he could heal a crippled man? What if it hadn’t worked? What if he became a public joke? Wouldn’t it have been safer—and more practical—to just start a GoFundMe for the guy? And yet, there he is. Bold. Unfiltered. Taking a wild, Spirit-led risk. Honestly, don’t you imagine Peter was just as shocked as everyone else? I can almost see John turning to him, eyebrows r...

This is Part 4 of our series: The Church the Holy Spirit Built. What we see here is the visible DNA of Jesus and His Spirit—actively moving through and motivating ordinary people. Because of His presence, these regular folks—people just like us—began to show signs of something radically new: A deep and undeniable devotion to the gospel (proskateresis)—a prioritization that hadn’t been there before. A surprising unity of thought, intention, purpose, and vision (homothumadon)—in stark contrast t...

This episode features Chapter 4 of my new book, Before the Couch—specifically Tip #3: “You Can’t Do It!” Before the Couch is now available on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible. It’s not another “try harder” marriage book—the kind you’ve probably already read if your marriage has been struggling. And honestly, how’s that worked out so far? This book takes a different approach—one that has already helped many Christian couples who were on the brink of calling a divorce lawyer. You might be wondering, ...

Thanks for the great feedback from the last show on Chapter 2 of my newest book, Before the Couch. It is available now on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible. It is not meant to take the same approach as so many other books that, if you are a struggling marriage, you;’ve probably tried. And how’s that going for you. The approach in Before the Couch has helped lots of Christian couples that came to be ready to call a divorce lawyer. Now, you might be asking, “Why another marriage book?” That’s fair. Th...

I’m taking a quick pause in our current series to share some exciting news: my brand-new book for struggling Christian couples, Before the Couch, launches October 1st on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible. Over the next three episodes, you’ll actually hear three of the most practical and encouraging chapters from the book—right here on the show. My prayer is that this becomes a trusted resource for churches and couples everywhere. Now, you might be asking, “Why another marriage book?” That’s fair. Th...
